I have often thought that homeschoolers are taught to be rule breakers and outside the box thinkers almost from birth. This is demonstrated in the way they dress, their media choices, and their obsession with Lord of the Rings. Now this is a generalization. Not all homeschoolers are on their way to win The Best Gollum Voice Award, but they are a unique group of people. ( If you want to learn more about homeschoolers, I suggest you read 5 Tiers of Homeschoolers .)
Now I had a “Become More Saintly Sleepover” for the local homeschooler girls and alum that I have befriended. These homeschoolers are probably in Tier 2 and so I get along with them very well.
The goal of the party was to grow our faith and pray and have sort of a retreat. It started out well. We discussed some of our favorite saints and how they overcame their hardships, stood up for their faith, and died with holy words on their lips.
.
We took some memorable pictures of us being good and righteous young women.
But then, all of the saintly images and saintly talk began to inspire us. What better way to become more saintly than to imitate the holy men and women who went before us.
